How can Alliance expedite new utility tie switchgears for installation on an upcoming outage?
After being contracted out to oversee a power system PMs during an annual outage, it was discovered that the primary utility tie switchgear was obsolete and in near failing conditions. PMs were performed and plans were made to expedite new utility tie switchgear for installation on the following annual outage.
The specialty chemical facilities’ testing results were poor and the deteriorated condition of the outdoor equipment necessitated an immediate plan to replace the entire line of gear. An expedited FEP study was performed to make a plan to replace the whole line of gear. An expedited FEP study was conducted to make a plan and develop a budget for the project. Specifications for the new equipment were then developed as the project funding was attained. New equipment was ordered as soon as the budget was approved. The design/construction package was completed using 3D scanning and modeling technology.
